Description

Aran, recipes and stories from a bakery in the heart of Scotland a recipe book by Flora Shedden.

Flora lives in Highland Perthshire, Scotland. She is the owner of Aran Bakery an artisan bakery in her hometown of Dunkeld.  She was a runner-up in the hugely popular Great British Bake Off in 2015.  The name Aran comes from Scottish Gaelic and translates to mean bread loaf.

The recipe book takes us through the day in 'meals', I used this term loosely as it consists of about eight different times of the day we can eat her treats.  From the wee small hours to elevenses, lunch and high tea.  This gorgeous book is packed full of baking recipes and stunning photography, not only of the food but of the landscapes surrounding her bakery.

Review by Curious Crew member Fiona:

'This is a really beautiful book - the photographs and the writing are equally lovely.  There are some gorgeous recipes with great ideas for delicious cakes, breads and lunches.  There's a really nice blend of traditional Scottish recipes (such as shortbread and gingerbread), and more unusual recipes (like blood orange and cardamom drizzle cake).  I love that there's so much variety in one book!'
